Job Description	JOB DESCRIPTION: Provides the highest acuity of care under the direction of a supervising cardiac surgeon in the discipline of cardiac surgery. Examines, evaluates, and treats patients with all ASA levels of medical acuity, and that require all degrees of invasive and interventional procedures. Performs cross-functional responsibilities, often simultaneously, in the operating room, ICU, step down unit and outpatient areas. Handles full rotation of care where providers perform pre-op, intra-op, post-op care/procedures. Functions at the highest level of autonomy, within the limits of mid-level licensure. Teaches and mentors junior Physician Assistants in cardiac surgical care. Proficient in: central line placement, swan ganz insertion, chest tube insertion, intra-aortic balloon insertion and removal, all intraoperative conduit harvest, chest closure, and first and second assisting in all types of cardiac surgical procedures. Educates patients and families on risks, outcomes, and health maintenance. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from a nationally certified Physician----s Assistant Program. Current licensure as a Physician----s Assistant in the state of Georgia. Demonstrated highest level of proficiency, certified by the chief PA of the Section of Cardiothoracic Surgery and the Chairman of the Section of the Surgery. Addendum to Job Description Supporting Emory Healthcare team member with two cardiothoracic surgeons, one other PA, clinic and office staff.

Additional Job Details	Work location is (not TEC)at Athens Regional Medical Center in Athens, GA. Need candidate to live within Athens area in order to quickly available when needed.
