Summary: Chenega Global Services is currently seeking an experienced General Surgery Physician Assistants to record physical exams, order and interpret appropriate diagnostic tests, diagnose, and treat surgical patients to include telephone contacts for result reporting and patient questions..

1. Performs histories, physical exams, order and interpret appropriate diagnostic tests, diagnose, and treat surgical patients to include telephone contacts for result reporting and patient questions. 2. Performs examination of urgent/emergent patients and consults in the Surgical Flight/Emergency Department in lieu of a surgical resident or surgical staff physician.
3. Dictates admission history, physicals, discharge summaries, and any other patient care provided.
4. Completes required mandatory reading and/or attends all hospital mandatory training and education activities as directed by superiors. Individuals are required to check their mailboxes each duty day (electronic and physical boxes).
5. Performs administrative duties, which may include but are not limited to; maintaining statistical records of clinical workload, participating in medical education programs and participating in quality improvement functions and other duties as prescribed by the Flight Commander or designated government representative.
6. The HCP shall treat patients with compassion and empathy, recognize and respect cultural diversity adapt communications to individual’s ability to understand. Use professional phone technique and use effective and correct verbal and written communication. Use medical terminology appropriately. Receive, organize, prioritize and transmit information, and serve as liaison.
7. Arranges for treatment to be provided by another HCP when religious objections to patient treatments arise.
8. Manages follow-up care for all general surgery patients presenting to clinic including ordering labs, radiology studies, etc. required for evaluation and care.
9. Explains treatment procedures to patients, instruct patients about medical and special diet, and coordinates patient care information with other health care providers.
10. Maintains patient confidentiality, uses appropriate guidelines when releasing information, practices within the scope of education, training, and personal capabilities, prepare and maintain medical records and documents accurately.
11. Ensures all information is entered in the patient’s medical records.
12. Performs minor surgeries and other therapeutic procedures as necessary.
13. Responds appropriately to clinic emergencies.
14. Ensures patient and staff safety through safety awareness, proper infection control, and promotion of clean, orderly clinic environment. Recognize report and correct potential safety hazards.
15. Prepares patient for laboratory and surgical procedures by providing information and instructions.
16. Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.
Supervision: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Minimum Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
• graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant Program and have Current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). • Maintain license/registration/certification current.
Education and/or Experience: • Recently graduate from PA school, no experience is required; otherwise, they shall have a total of 2 years experience in patient care, with portion of that experience occurring within the last 2 years. • Knowledge of basic insurance coding. • Ability to acquire and use basic computer skills to enter patient data and extract patient information via the Composite Health Care System (CHCS). • Knowledge of a wide variety of resource agencies available in the military treatment system and within the community to ensure proper and expedient referral of the patient and/or family members. • Knowledge of various training methods and interpersonal skills in order to develop a rapport with the patients and co- workers during which instructional and education information is presented and resulting in an established supportive trusting relationship.

Clearance: Must be eligible to obtain Secret clearance, but not required to start.
